Outside

The excellent thing about the Robocat-developed app Outside is that it delivers useful information and it delivers it via a stunning interface. It combines usefulness with good looks, and I find that very, very appealing.

The information Outside has to offer is related to the weather. In the app’s stylized and good looking window you can view info about the current local weather. By swiping on your iDevice’s screen you can view the forecast for tomorrow. And by setting up Push Notification you can always stay up-to-date on the weather; the app will send you a Push Notification based on your filters, for example if the temperature goes beneath a certain threshold.

My main concern when I wake up in the morning is if it’s going to rain today, if I need to take my umbrella with me or not. The Outside app puts that concern of mine to rest. When I wake up in the morning, I can simply take a look at the app and it will tell me if I can leave my umbrella at home or if I need to take it with me.

From an ease of use point of view, this app is a treat as well. It is incredibly easy to access the weather information the app displays in such a beautiful manner. And it’s quite easy to set up Push Notifications. The ease of use is definitely a bonus point, as I can’t imagine anyone would be willing to go through a steep learning curve to get accustomed to a weather app.

The Outside app is available for purchase in the App Store for $2.99. You may be thinking that the default weather app is free and you’re going to stick with that. Yes, you could do that, but you would be giving up on an app that is amazing from all points of view – looks, functionality, ease of use.
